Startup Chance for women: Strengthening independence in Burgenland
On November 4, 2024, the starting signal for the next round of the "Startup Chance for Women" program was given, which is implemented by BFI Burgenland in cooperation with the state of Burgenland and the European Social Fund (ESF). This program offers women support on the way to independence and to found their own companies. There is still the possibility for interested women to register and benefit from the diverse offers.
"This project is an important step to strengthen the economic independence of women in Burgenland," said State Councilor Astrid Eisenkopf. Women should be encouraged to put their business ideas into practice, including a significant contribution to the economy and society. The program includes tailor-made workshops, mentoring programs and financial aid that help to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful start-up.

An important advantage of independence is the possibility of better reconciling work and family. In addition, women can implement their creativity and ideas and at the same time generate their own income. "In the past 10 years we have had over 100 project participants who have successfully founded their company," reported Anita Holper, educational manager at the BFI. Thanks to the cooperation with the AMS, job -seeking women also receive financial support during their participation in the project.
One of the inspiring stories comes from Michaela Trbanos, who took the step into self-employment as part of the previous founder project. With her company "Michaela's moments" she realized her dream. "The founder program was the best for me that could happen to me," said Trbanos and highlighted the valuable content and exchange among the participants. The support of the other women is a great help to master the challenges of the foundation.
The "Startup Chance for Women" program is another important step in the efforts of the State of Burgenland to promote equality and equal opportunities. "We invite all interested women to take part in this program and find out about the opportunities," said Eisenkopf. Detailed information and registration options can be found on the BFI Burgenland website.
How many women will benefit from this program remains to be seen, but the first successes already show the potential that slumbers in the promotion of female entrepreneurs. Initiatives like this are essential to support women on their way to self -realization and economic autonomy.
