Peace piane for children: Heinz Janischs Kranich enthusiastic about Schlaining Castle
At the imposing Friedensburg Schlaininging, the official presentation of the new children's book "Der Kranich and the DU" by the renowned author Heinz Janisch took place on Friday morning. This lovingly illustrated picture book, which was designed by Nadine Kappacher, presents a fascinating story about community and peace. The origami crane, which is in the center of the book, is much more than a simple motif. It symbolizes hope and conveys deeper values that are indispensable today.
Peace pedagogy from Klein to
Bildungslandesrätin Daniela Winkler emphasized the special importance of the book for peace education at school, especially in view of the current global political unrest, such as the war in Ukraine. She said: "At a time like this, it becomes all the more important that we live peace education even more in our schools." As part of the event, the children of the City Schlaining elementary school received their personal specimen in order to internalize the values of tolerance and respect at an early stage. Winkler emphasized that "the crane and that you" is a warm sign for the coming generations, especially in today's time.
Heinz Janisch said that the book also serves as a pedagogical tool. "I am the most spoken word in the German language. But we should and we should say much more often," he continues. History enabled the children to think about their own experiences and to understand the concept of coexistence. The connection of this work to the Japanese legend of the sad student Sadako Sasaki, who folded 1,000 cranes, is particularly touching. The cranich is considered a universal symbol of peace and so this book is a valuable contribution to peace education, as well as reported.
With the support of the state of Burgenland, this book is distributed free of charge to all kindergartens in Burgenland, which significantly strengthens its reach and the message of peace. "The crane and the you" is not only a book, but a call to cooperation and peace in society, which is indispensable in times like this, as is the ORF Burgenland
