FPÖ relies on Norbert Hofer: Can he decide the election in Burgenland?
The Burgenland is about to choose a new state parliament: On January 19, it will be decided which political forces will direct the country's fortunes in the coming years. In this decisive choice, six parties are on the ballot and 250,399 people entitled to vote are ready to give up their vote. The SPÖ, led by Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, tries to defend its absolute majority in 2020. This is already Doskozil's second compete, while the other top candidates are facing a premiere. It becomes particularly exciting for the Greens who have to worry about the re -entry into the state parliament, while the NEOS hope for a success in the third attempt.
FPÖ relies on Norbert Hofer
The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) puts its hopes for Norbert Hofer, the former Third National Council President and Presidential candidate, whose awareness in Burgenland is assessed much higher than that of its competitors. Hofer competes against the long-standing dominance of the SPÖ and, according to oe24.at The current state party chairman Alexander Petschnig has just got a seat in the National Council, but will probably run in the back ranks in this election campaign. Former FPÖ member Verfa Molnar will also compete with his newly founded "List of Household" and supported by former party colleagues who also have experience in the state parliament.
The scale could therefore tend to be decisive in favor of the FPÖ, especially if you consider that Hofer may arouse the voter interest, as burgenland.orf.at . It remains to be seen whether the FPÖ can actually exert the hoped -for influence. The coming weeks will be decisive and the election campaign will go into the hot phase.
