Energy elegation in Burgenland: Discussion about the future and prices!
On December 12, 2024, the Burgenland state parliament debated the current budget, which provides for income of 1.88 billion euros and expenditure of 1.94 billion euros. In his opening speech, SPÖ state captain Hans Peter Doskozil emphasized the stability of the budget by pointing out the importance of a sustainable energy policy. Green MP Wolfgang Spitzmüller emphasized that wind power is now almost considered the symbol of Burgenland and that greater promotion of renewable energies is required. FPÖ club chairman Johann Tschürtz also took part in this discussion, who analyzed the current situation on the gas market and pointed out the impending challenges that arise from international conflicts, such as the dependence on Russian gas.
discussion about the energy community
In addition to the budget, the new energy community "Fanclub Burgenland Energie -independent" were also on the agenda. FPÖ club chief Markus Ulram expressed criticism of this concept, which is guaranteed a fixed electricity price and referred to as a "fan club". He complained that this title gives the appearance that you would have to become a member to benefit from cheaper prices. SPÖ MP Wolfgang Sodl, who also said goodbye in his last speech in the state parliament, defended the energy community and emphasized the attractive prices for electricity and feed-in, which represent specific relief for the citizens.
In addition, Burgenland Energie AG reports that personal data of all contractual relationships are processed in order to create and market effective offers via products and tariffs in the energy sector. Among other things, this information includes the name, address and usage data of the customers, which enables to offer individually tailored services. This data is processed both by telephone and electronically, including social media, which increases the range of services considerably, as is documented on FcBe.at.
