Young people in Eisenstadt are committed to climate protection

The fourth youth climate conference took place in Eisenstadt on Tuesday, in which committed students from all over Burgenland came together to present their innovative ideas to improve the climate. This event focused on the various projects developed by the young people to actively contribute to climate protection.

A total of 18 classes of nine schools were represented, which dealt with different approaches and solutions to combat climate change. Paul Holzinger, a student of the HTL Eisenstadt, particularly emphasized the importance of his green diploma thesis. "It is important that I design the diploma thesis in such a way that it is as environmentally friendly as possible and that I use environmentally friendly materials," he said in emphasis.

commitment to a climate -neutral future

The deputy governor Astrid Eisenkopf (SPÖ) emphasized that the projects presented will seriously check the country and incorporate into the future climate strategy. "We take into account these ideas and comments because they provide valuable impulses," says Eisenkopf. With their suggestions, the young people have the chance to actively participate in the political decision -making processes.

A central goal of the Burgenland is to become climate -neutral by 2030. The region is currently around 60 percent on the right track. Stephan Sharma, CEO of Burgenland Energie, said: "With the further wind construction, photovoltaic expansion and from next year, with the expansion of energy storage, we will achieve our goal of making Burgenland independent of energy." These measures are crucial to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and to use sustainable energies.

The youth climate conference not only represents a platform for creative solutions, but also promotes awareness among young people for the challenges of climate change. Young people show that they are willing to take responsibility and actively contribute to the design of a more environmentally friendly future. The combination of education and commitment in projects such as this offers hope for a positive development in climate protection.
