Threat against schools: Oberwart switches to online lessons!
Due to a serious threat, three federal schools will be closed in Oberwart from Tuesday to Thursday. The pupils of the trade academy, the HBLA and the bilingual high school have to complete their lessons online during this time. This measure was taken as a safety precaution after a worrying posting on social media made the end of the police. The educational directorate in Eisenstadt informed all affected parents, pupils and teachers on Monday about the temporary changeover to homeschooling. According to a communication of the educational directorate, which is available to the courier, the decision refers to the period from February 4 to 6, 2025.
intensive investigations run
The police are already actively involved in the investigation of the threat. Police spokesman Helmut Marban confirmed that the investigation is "at full speed" while traces are analyzed and backgrounds are clarified. The threatening posting was sent to the authorities for further examination. In order to ensure security at the affected schools, police presence in Oberwart is also reinforced with both uniformed and civilians. These extensive security measures show how important it is to protect the pupils and teaching staff, while the responsible authorities are working on the clarification of the situation, as kosmo.at reported.
In the meantime, the responsible institutions keep all those affected informed about the state of the investigation and expect new knowledge that could soon contribute to certainty whether the temporary closure of the schools was actually necessary. The KURIER also emphasizes that the measures were taken due to the safety -relevant information and that more information about the situation is expected in the next few days.
