Georg Pangl surprisingly resigns as President of the BFV

On Thursday, the Burgenland Football Association (BFV) announced that Georg Pangl resigned as president with immediate effect. In an official announcement, the association said that the reasons for his resignation were "personal" nature.

During a presidium meeting, Pangl informed the members present about his decision. The association took note of this and is now planning to compose to clarify the future leadership.

important choice in March

Pangl, who comes from Stotzing in the Eisenstadt area district, has only been president since March this year. In a fight vote, he had prevailed with 85 to 78 votes against Alfred Kollar, managing director of the Oberwarter Siedlungsenossenschaft (OSG). This was an important choice because it was the first in two decades and the second since 1945. With his many years of experience, among others at the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB), in the Bundesliga and the UEFA, Pangl competed to lead the BFV.

further resignation in Austrian football

In connection with Pangl's resignation, there was also an important development in the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) on the same day. Klaus Mitterdorfer also resigned with immediate effect as President of the ÖFB. This information was published on Thursday evening. An extraordinary presidium meeting of the ÖFB scheduled for Friday afternoon was then canceled.
