Burgenland Tour 2025: 600 hikers conquer the landscape in Gols!
On May 24, 2025, this year's edition of "Die Großen Burgenland Tour" started at the main square in Gols, with 600 hikers participating in the event. Shortly after 9 a.m. the tour started in bright sunshine. The ORF-Burgenland State Director Mag. Werner Herics and Marketing Manager Mag. (FH) Christina Aichner welcomed numerous partners of the event, including Andreas Wirth, President of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, and other regionally important personalities.
The tour, which lasts from May 24th to 30th, 2025, is under the motto "7 days, 7 districts, 7 adventures". The aim of this annual event is to discover the scenic diversity and beauty of the Burgenland. A total of 63 varied routes have been offered in the past nine years, with the pandeme -related interruptions to be noted in 2020 and 2022. Instead, seven stages were presented virtually in 2021.

The participants are invited to experience the region in their full splendor as part of the Great Burgenland Tour. So far, over 1,200 kilometers have been covered by Burgenland. The tour benefits from a strong cooperation between various partners such as Burgenland Tourism, Raiffeisen, Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, the BVZ and the Kesch agency. The Karwendel march stands out under these events, which is one of the most famous hiking events with 2,500 starting places. The starting positions are often quickly awarded via the demanding 52 km route. Other popular routes such as the Silvretta Ferwall March also offer different distances, which makes participation easier for different levels of experience.

For participation in the hiking tours, no special equipment is prescribed, but it is recommended to bring the following things:
- sports shoes or trail shoes/mountain shoes for trails
- water
- Change clothing (e.g. in the case of rain)
- association material
- sunscreen
- headgear
Most marches have catering stations, so that only minimal own meals are required. These comprehensive offers contribute to the fact that more and more people enthusiastically participate in hiking events.
