Anton Bruckner, the great Austrian composer, is at the center of an impressive cultural year that is celebrated with numerous events and exhibitions. Led by OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH, over 95 projects in cooperation with more than 200 partners were realized. The main exhibition took place in the St. Florian Abbey, where the composer's life stages as well as his dreams and visions were presented in multimedia formats. This spectacular show moved 45,000 visitors to St. Florian, as ORF OÖ reported.

The Bruckner Orchestra Linz, as a musical ambassador of the year, delighted with appearances in the Vienna Konzerthaus and a unique concert in the Salinen Ebensee. Under the title "Bruckner's Salz", the highlight of the festivity year received a special appreciation. On September 4, the 200th birthday of Bruckner, a 24-hour birthday party took place, which ended with a spectacular festival concert by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. Franz Welser-Möst and the Cleveland Orchestra ensured unforgettable goosebumps, while the governor of Upper Austria, Thomas Stelzer, praised Bruckner's remarkable presence today.

The four orchestral pieces that Bruckner composed in autumn 1862 during his studies with Otto Kitzler formed an important part of his work. This first examination of the orchestral music already shows approaches of his later style.
