Banks increase fees: It gets as expensive for customers: inside 2025!
In the current survey of the AK banking monitor, an alarming trend shows: eight out of eleven examined banks have significantly increased their prices. On average, the price increase for six price positions is almost seven percent. These developments were comprehensively documented in a report by OTS . In the credit area in particular, interest rates have increased, which is agreed by additional expenses.
A total of 53 expenses in payment transactions, saving, loans and in securities transactions were analyzed as part of the examination. Bank Austria stands out because it has raised the prices of 5.17 percent on average in 15 positions. Hypo Noe follows an average of 5.4 percent with an increase in ten positions, while bank increased seven positions by 1.90 percent. The biggest leap of the prices was recorded at the Erste Bank, where the transmission expenses of a securities rose by alarming 136 percent. Bank99 increased the account management fees for residential loans more than doubled and the estimation costs for residential properties were also significantly increased. This trend has led to a massive burden for borrowers: inside, especially in the case of deferrals or amendments that were increasingly requested in the second half of 2022.

In the event of persistent financial difficulties, those affected should seek contact with free, state -recognized debt consultations.The AK recorded this data on the basis of surveys on the 53 services at twelve banks in Vienna between January 2024 and January 2025.
Legal framework of bank fees
Another aspect that should not be neglected are the legal framework regarding bank fees. According to an article by Consumer center NRW , many disputes of credit institutions are common. For example, banks may not request a separate fee for the management of a loan account and flat -rate fees for the processing of loans are also inadmissible.
