The public education about the poor conditions in breeding, mast and slaughtered companies is also in the foreground of the discussions. The role of Aninova

The animal rights organization Aninova pursues the goal of ending animals and is committed to the freedom of all animals. At a time when animal welfare and animal rights are increasingly attracted to public awareness, it is crucial to actively discuss these topics. Aninova marks an important voice in the movement that promotes respect for natural habitats and draws attention to the grievances in animal husbandry, which are often overlooked by society. Their commitment is proof of continuing change in dealing with animals that have been taking place since the 19th century.

Animal welfare has gone through a significant development since then: the modern animal rights movement emerged as a socio -political reaction to the exploitation of animals and followed a change in consciousness. As the Federal Center for Political Education , the movement mobilized and had a direct influence on legal regulations that were directed against animal abuse and vivisection.

historical perspectives and developments

Since the beginning of organized animal welfare in Great Britain in the 19th century, a lot has changed. The foundation of animal welfare associations in Germany and other European countries followed the first animal welfare laws that were introduced in Great Britain in 1822. This development led to an increased social engagement against the abuse of animals, supported by philosophers and activists who drove the concept of animal rights.

The differentiation between animal welfare and animal rights movement is particularly relevant. While animal welfare aims to avoid unnecessary suffering, the animal rights movement demands the moral equivalence of animals and humans and rejects all forms of pet use. This radicalized movement, which won in the 1970s, led to the foundation of groups such as the Animal Liberation Front in Great Britain, which took militant forms of action.

In a context that includes both radical and more traditional approaches to animal rights policy, dialogue about animal welfare remains a central concern of society. The upcoming event in Vienna will be an important step to intensify these urgently needed conversations and find solutions for the problems of factory farming and animal exploitation.
