Anaconda fear in Quickborn: Yellow snake discovered in the stream!

On Sunday, June 2, 2025, a 3-meter-long yellow anakonda was discovered in the Gronau stream in Quickborn, Schleswig-Holstein. An attentive cyclist noticed the animal in the water and informed the fire brigade. This immediately moved out and could locate the snake. However, the salvage turned out to be difficult and took around four hours. A specialized snake expert was consulted to master the challenge. The Anakonda, which was already undercooled, was brought to the wildlife and species protection center in Klein Abteth-Sparrieshoop after the successful salvage.

The police suspect that the yellow anaconda, which is originally native to South America, was exposed. This has led to the initiation of a procedure for a possible violation of the Animal Welfare Act. Yellow anacondas can become up to four meters long and weigh more than 40 kilograms. Although they are not toxic, they can bite vigorously and anchor their teeth in the tissue, which makes them potentially dangerous.

The background of Art

The yellow anakonda is known for living near waters and can dive under water for up to 15 minutes. These properties make it necessary to have a good understanding of the living conditions of this snake, especially since it could be kept as a pet. In an expert opinion, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture emphasizes the requirements for the species -appropriate attitude of reptiles. Characteristic nutrition, care and accommodation are essential aspects that are absolutely necessary for the well -being of the animals. When keeping reptiles, extensive knowledge of the respective species is necessary, as is determined in the Animal Welfare Act (paragraph 2).

To ensure animal welfare, interested parties should obtain detailed information about biology and posture requirements before buying a reptile. In particular, the air conditioning of the enclosures, temperatures and environmental conditions are crucial for an art right attitude. Suitable species are recommended, especially for beginners in reptile posture, while chameleons and non -marked species are considered unsuitable.

The police in Schleswig-Holstein meanwhile calls on witnesses to the incident to report to further clarify the possible background of the anaconda's suspension. The Enlightenment could not only lead to a better understanding of the circumstances, but also contribute to the protection of such animals in the future.

Krone reports that the incident received international attention while regionalheute.de provides additional information on the rescue and condition of the snake. For detailed information on species-appropriate reptile posture, the report of the BMEL an indispensable source.
