28 new police students in Carinthia: A strong sign of the future!
On June 24, 2025, the official commission of 28 new police students took place in the education center of the Security Academy in Krumpendorf am Wörthersee. Among the prospective are 11 women and 17 men who are now starting their two -year training period. The state police director Michaela Kohlweiß personally took the oath with a handshake and thus gave the starting signal for training at the Carinthia State Police Directorate.
Police training in Austria is an essential part of the country's security architecture. Overall, the police train around 23,000 employees at over 1,000 police inspections, spread over the 12 police schools across the country. The police school in Krumpendorf was founded in 2003 and plays a crucial role in recruiting new forces. The basic training at the police school in Krumpendorf extends over 24 months and is divided into several sections: 12 months of basic training, 3 months of professional internship, 5 months deepening and finally 4 months of professional internship. The training plan is determined by the Security Academy and includes a variety of skills that are essential for police service. These include:

The police school itself is equipped with 4 apprenticeships, a computer hall, two seminar rooms and a canteen, which offers it optimal learning conditions. In addition, the pupils can rely on a committed teaching team of 10 experienced police experts who bring their knowledge and experience.

In order to qualify for police training, interested parties have to meet some requirements. This includes a minimum age of 18 years, Austrian citizenship and the possession of the swimming badge "driving swimmer". Free of priorcot and the completed military service are also mandatory. The aptitude tests are comprehensive and last a total of two days. They contain psychological tests, sporting requirements and a medical certificate.
If you reach the minimum number of 197.22 points per exam, you can look forward to a fulfilled training. Preparations for the entrance exams are recommended to obtain the necessary knowledge and fitness for the police profession.
