15,000 wrap backpacks for healthy teeth: Viennese families benefit!
In an important step towards promoting early childhood oral health, Vienna Health Promotion (WIG) has once again launched its initiative "Tipptop. Healthy in the mouth and all around". This measure aims to address dental care before the first milk tooth. According to OE24 are distributed every year 15,000 changing backpacks, the valuable information and Materials for dental care for children between 0 and 12 years.
The changing backpack includes, among other things, a baby tooth plaster set that aims to bring children from an early age to the importance of oral hygiene, as well as the children's book "Mia and the Dental Vampire". These programs are the result of a cooperation between the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the Vienna State Dental Association and are financed through the state health promotion fund.
important target groups and added value
The program is not only intended for children, but is also aimed at their parents and caregivers. Every year, around 100,000 Viennese children benefit from this initiative in around 1,300 facilities such as kindergartens and schools. Dr. Stephen Weinländer, President of the Vienna State Dental Association, emphasizes the importance of dental health in the first years of life: early knowledge and skills in oral hygiene can significantly reduce oral diseases.
Additional information on oral hygiene and its relevance for general health are available via platforms such as dentalbase . It is pointed out that poor oral hygiene can lead to serious problems such as caries and gum diseases. Therefore, regular visits to the dentist, a healthy diet and the use of dental floss are essential components of a sophisticated oral care routine.
recommendations for parents and caregivers
The initiative also emphasizes the role of parents and legal guardians in oral hygiene education. Structured oral care that contains brushing your teeth, dental floss and healthy snacks should be established in early years. Parents serve as important role models. It is also recommended to integrate events such as brushing your teeth into the everyday life of children and to promote the use of digital technologies to motivate the children.
The program "Tipping. Healthy in the mouth and all around" represents a significant contribution to early childhood health promotion in Vienna and is actively committed to the next generation to dental health. Further information is on the website OTS available.
