Palais Niederösterreich, Wien, Österreich - Yesterday The Austrian Environmental Journalism Prize 2024 was awarded in Vienna, an important event that honors the valuable contributions to environmental and nature conservation in Austria. Over 120 submitted work was examined by a highly professional jury, chaired by Prof. Fred Turnheim. The prize was handed over to the festive “Green Brands Austria” gala in the Palais Lower Austria, and the patron, climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler, emphasized the essential role of environmental journalism in times of climate and ecological crises. Gewessler emphasized that journalism was not only a cornerstone of democracy, but also necessary to make complex topics understandable and to improve important discussions, such as ots.at reported.

In four categories, these outstanding work was awarded. In the CrossMedia category, the prize went to the team around the contribution "Nature in distress - from the global species death and those who fight it" by Alicia Prager and other colleagues from the standard . In the TV/video area, the eco contribution "Industry instead of green meadow" by Bettina Fink and Markus Preslmayr received recognition for the critical examination of industrial fallow land and their possible sustainable use.
