Hornisgrinde: New wind turbine brings green electricity for 4600 households!

Hornisgrinde, Deutschland - The hornet grind, the highest wind turbine in Germany, continues to grow! Windstrom Schwarzwaldhochstraße GmbH & Co. KG received the immission protection permit for the second wind turbine. On Thursday, December 19, the district office of Ortenaukreis formally handed over approval. This marks a significant progress for the energy transition in the region, as district administrator Thorsten Erny emphasized. "This step is another component for the future -proof energy supply in the Ortenaukreis," he said enthusiastically and referred to the successful cooperation between applicants and authorities.

The new system will reach a total height of 179.50 meters and offer an output of 4.2 megawatts (MW). It is designed in such a way that it can supply around 4,600 households in Ortenau with green electricity, such as Schwarzwaelder-bote.de reported. The approval documents for a type change were also handed over to the district office, with a decision -making approval for the first quarter of 2025. The commissioning of the new system is planned for the end of 2025.

slow but constant progress

First figures already show the positive influence of the existing wind turbine, which has been in operation since 2015 and saves around 4,000 tons of CO2 per year, it supplies 2000 households. Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann praised the expansion of wind turbines in the Freiburg region during an event that also accompanied the transfer of application. "Every wind turbine is included - every system contributes to the successful energy transition," said Ministerial Director Michael Münter.

After planning the new wind turbine took over seven years, those responsible are facilitated by approval. Matthias Griebl, representative of the Windstrom Schwarzwaldhochstraße, said: "We are pleased that the official hurdles were quickly overcome. This shows that nature conservation and renewable energies are compatible."
