Future of the border triangle: New mountain railways create jobs!
A new era begins for the border triangle! From the beginning of July 2025, the mountain railways in Arnoldstein will resume summer operation before starting the winter season shortly before Christmas 2025. Mayor Ing. Reinhard Antolitsch announced that the mountain railways remain completely in a Carinthian hand, which means significant stability for the future development of the popular excursion destination, as the Gailtal Journal reported.
The investors and shareholders are local actors who are committed to further developing the border triangle as a year-round experience. This area is not only an important link between Austria, Slovenia and Italy, but also as an important destination for families and ski enthusiasts. This is exactly what the three -way border will create new jobs: 15 in summer and between 30 and 40 in winter, Antolitsch continues. The path to the mountain station is facilitated by a 3-seater chairlift and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains, including the Julian Alps and Dobratsch. Events and the theme hike "Border Genial" will offer visitors further experience options, as on the website of the Sommerberg Bahnen Kärnten
outlook for the future
The three-way border is important as a regional home-related supply area for the domestic children: Students can get on the slopes in a few minutes after lessons. This solution was a joint effort of the political actors, especially the municipal officer LR Ing. Daniel Fellner. Another impulse for tourism is given by the management of the Villach tourism region, which points out that the border triangle is an important offer in summer and winter, in particular due to its location in the intercultural intersection of three countries. With breathtaking views, visitors enjoy nature to the fullest, regardless of the season.
