Vienna invests records: cycle path offensive picks up speed!
Wien, Österreich - Vienna's cycle path offensive continues to pick up speed! Mobility City Councilor Ulli Sima and NEOS Mobility spokeswoman Angelika Pipal-Leixner announced that almost 100 kilometers of new cycling infrastructure should be realized as part of this initiative by the end of 2025. In the first four years of the offensive, almost 73 kilometers were created in the main bike path network and more than 130 million euros invested in projects. Sima emphasized: "We really went into the pedals to give Vienna a network of cycle paths that deserves the name!"
A particularly exciting project is the new climate in Miselstrasse, where a wide two-direction cycle path is created via several sections. Already 1.6 kilometers of the bike connection along Hütteldorfer Straße have been accessible since the end of 2024, and over 60 trees are now planted for the second section. In this redesign, Meiselstraße is converted into a traffic -calmed street, which offers both cyclists and pedestrians a safe environment, such as bahnwien.at
With the aim of creating green infrastructure, the entire area is redesigned to ensure pedestrians and cyclists alike a comfortable and safe passage. Particular attention is paid to the removal of areas, which contributes to the creation of new green and promotes traffic safety. Vienna's new cycle path offensive shows impressively how modern mobility solutions in connection with environmental protection can be adapted to the needs of city dwellers.
