Vulcan eruption on Halmahera: red flames and impending evacuations!
Halmahera, Indonesien - A dramatic volcanic eruption shook Indonesia! The IBU volcano on the island of Halmahera, which is one of the Molukken, experienced a massive eruption this morning around 7:45 a.m. (local time). A bright red flame column shot up from the volcano into the sky, accompanied by dense, black smoke. The authorities then proclaimed the second highest volcanic alarm level because around 700,000 people live in the Region. At the moment, evacuation orders have not yet been pronounced, but the residents and tourists have been asked to remove at least four to 5.5 kilometers from the volcano, such as the Kleine Zeitung reported.
The situation could still be worsened. The Indonesian archipelago lies on the so -called Pacific fire ring, a geologically active area where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions often occur. The authorities advise the population to take protective measures, especially with regard to possible ash rain that could endanger air quality. In the meantime, there were also eschrecking volcano events in other parts of the world: On the main island of Hawaii, the Kilauea volcano is again active with lavaon, which is almost 100 meters high, as the süddeutsche Zeitung . This again shows the unpredictable power of nature and the dangers associated with such dangerous natural phenomena. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and whether evacuations have to occur.
