New Wild Solutions Park: Future of Biodiversity in the Weinviertel!

The Wild Solutions Park is being built in the Lower Austrian Weinviertel, just an hour from Vienna. This innovative project is located on a formerly heavily stressed arable area in the Leiser Mountain Nature Park and is intended to serve as a learning facility for biodiversity and climate adaptation. According to Econews Regional Development Association Nature Parks Leiser Berge and the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, implemented together.

A central element of the park are formerly domestic pasture animals such as Tux cattle and conic horses. With their natural behavior, these animals shape new habitats by creating open areas, pools and bushes. This interactive method aims to promote biodiversity in the region and to strengthen the resilience of the ecosystem. Modern technology is used to document the changes in the ecosystem.

technological approach to monitoring

Continuous monitoring is introduced to pursue the movements of the animals, the development of plants and the changes in the soil. Acoustic sensors, drone recordings and AI-based data evaluations come to the use. These technologies make it possible to make the effects of the pasture animals on the landscape quantifiable, with which Wild Solutions Park takes a pioneering role in the field of natural-based solutions, as it is also from Federal Environment Agency are described.

The gently grazing and natural fertilization promotes humus buildings. Humus -rich soils have the ability to store more water, which not only improves the soil structure, but also increases the resistance to drought periods and reduces floods.

goals of the Wild Solutions Park

The Wild Solutions Park pursues a long-term approach in the areas of climate and nature conservation. In addition to promoting biodiversity, the project also wants to create new perspectives for the region. Through the active design of nature and implementing traditional, natural methods, an attempt is made to address the challenges of climate change. Such measures are not only favorable, but also sustainable, especially compared to technical CO₂ reduction approaches.

A visitor: Inside portal is also set up to provide insights into the developments on site. This portal provides information on plant deposits and animal observations, which should sharpen awareness and understanding of biodiversity in the region.

Overall, the Wild Solutions Park shows how concrete solutions for climate protection and the preservation of biodiversity can be found through the combination of natural methods and modern technology. The park is therefore an example of the implementation of statements that are formulated in the Un-Biodiversity Convention and the 17 goals of the Agenda 2030.
