New political spring: Community elections in 2025 in Lower Austria are imminent!
Altlengbach, Österreich - The upcoming municipal elections in Lower Austria on January 26, 2025 promise significant changes, as the People's Party of Lower Austria announced in a press conference on December 11, 2024 in Altlengbach. Around 20,000 candidates compete, including about 1,300 young people under the age of 25 who want to take political responsibility for the first time. The average age is 46 years, which underlines the diversity and dynamics of the election applicants. OTS reported that the folk party is the only party in all 568 municipalities with candidates and thus firmly anchored in the political country of Lower Austria shows.

The election conditions have changed fundamentally since the last election in January 2020. The number of eligible voters has dropped by 11.2 percent due to the election of the right to vote - from 1,480,968 in 2020 to 1,314,546 people. In addition, 86 parties and numerous new citizens' lists compete, which makes a direct comparison with the elections five years ago. Matthias Zauner, the state managing director of the People's Party, also said that the political framework had changed a lot: "The federal political signs and the global challenges were different in 2020 than today," said Zauner. As a result of these changes, the People's Party expects challenging election results.
The People's Party is optimistic and sees it as its task to support their candidates as best as possible in order to successfully cut off as many communities as possible. This restructuring and the newly created political circumstances show the dynamic nature of the upcoming elections in Lower Austria .
