New community building in Hietzing: This is how it is now living in Opitzgasse!

In an impressive step towards creating affordable living space in Vienna, two new municipal buildings were officially handed over to their first residents on February 28, 2025. In Opitzgasse 29, where an old supermarket was previously stood, a modern residential property with 62 energy -efficient apartments has established itself. In this new building, 130 new residents are now happy about their new, bright apartments, all of which have private freedoms such as balconies or terraces. Vice Mayor Kathrin Gaál emphasizes that this community building is a prime example of sustainable social housing, which offers urgently needed living space in Hietzing and at the same time strengthens the ecological balance of the city, as well as the news from wien.gv.at report.

At the same time, the new community building at Berresgasse 5 opened on the same day, which includes 221 apartments and already serves around 500 Viennese as a new home. This building, which meets the modern demands of the city, offers flexible floor plans, private open spaces and common areas that promote neighborly life.
