Art and innovation: Rheinruhr orange exhibition inspires Mülheim!
Mülheim an der Ruhr, Deutschland - On January 11, 2025, the Ruhr Gallery opens the Rheinruhr Orange exhibition in Villa Artis. This is curated by the renowned artist Ute Nowak and addresses the connection between art and regional history. The focus of the exhibition is the monumental sculpture of Rheinorange, which was designed by Lutz Fritsch. This impressive sculpture, which has been at the end of the Ruhr Valley since 1992, has a height of 25 meters and shines in the color RAL 2004 Reinorange.
The Rheinorange symbolizes the transition between the Ruhr and the Rhine and the region's industrial legacy. It was created as part of an initiative by the Duisburg business juniors and was created without Fritsch's fee. The sculpture is often regarded as an interpretation of the last glowing steel brain in the Ruhr area and refers to the decline of steel production in the region.
modern interpretations and digital extensions
The exhibition presents, among other things, the miniature sculpture "small orange" by Ute Nowak, which is to be staged in various sights. This connection between art and regional history is to be further developed by a planned series. A digital expansion by AR technology from Funbot is also offered. The sculpture is virtually inserted into photos, so that interactive technology combines the past and the present.
The colored tone RAL 2004 Reinorange not only acts as a visual element, but also symbolizes the connection of art and nature. The sculpture itself has already been restored twice to ensure color and structural preservation.
The Rheinruhr Orange exhibition will be shown by March 2, 2025. Admission is free, however, registrations are requested for guided tours, as muelheim-ruhr reports.
The sculpture Rheinorange, which is on the Rheinkilometer 780, where the Ruhr and Rhine flow together, is also important. This rectangular sculpture is often described as a monochrome orange field and receives a special immersion through the water reflection, which increases its intangible appearance. It serves as the starting point for other sculptures by Lutz Fritsch, which both rural and urban spaces both rethink and structure. These sculptures offer new approaches to perception and orientation, such as "https://nrw-skulptur.net/en/skulptur/rheinorange/"> nrw-skulptur.net emphasized.
