Gschnitzbach becomes a habitat: millions of project ensures natural miracle!

Gschnitz, Österreich - A significant renaturation project on the Gschnitzbach is currently being carried out to promote the natural spread of the water. The Gschnitzbach will extend up to 80 meters wide in the future. This means a tripling of the former room, which was previously restricted by non -location spruces and an artificial stream bed. As part of the measures, the former fields are re -connected to the main river and new habitats, the domestic plants and animals benefit, such as .

The comprehensive project includes the removal of non-home vegetation and the creation of ponds in which amphibians such as frogs and toads can live in the future. By creating structural islands in the water, a habitat for different fish species such as Koppe and Bach trout is also made possible. A total of around 30,000 square meters of new living space are created in this initiative. The investments for this project amount to over 1.6 million euros, with the state of Tyrol a contribution of more than 506,000 euros, while the municipality of Gschnitz contributes around 34,000 euros, such as Meinzirk.at reported .

The construction work on the Gschnitzbach lasts until the end of summer and should help to develop the river again in its natural form. Overall, the renaturation is of great importance in order to obtain valuable river landscapes that are not only ecological, but also important for the population. According to Mayor Andreas Pranger, the success of this project is a profit for nature and the people in the valley.
