Discharge wave at Hydrogenious: 25 percent of the employees have to go!

Erlangen, Deutschland - In a dramatic step, the Erlangen company Hydrogenious Lohc Technologies dismissed. The workforce of around 120 employees currently meets this wave of discharge, since around 50 jobs are lost. The measure comes just a few months after a funding commitment of 72.5 million euros from Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck, who was present in August 2024 on a solemn event. At that time, the money should be used to build a system to hand over green hydrogen, which should deliver up to 1800 tons of hydrogen annually from 2028.

background of the layoffs

The reasons for this radical decision are both geopolitical and economic nature. The hydrogen economy is currently facing enormous challenges, including rising prices for renewable energies and a lack of regulatory framework, which significantly hinder the market stroke. A spokesman for the company said that this “series of challenges” was reacted to with a comprehensive transformation process in order to optimize the corporate structures and to focus more on key projects. In order to make personnel loss as socially acceptable as possible, the employees concerned were released at full continued wages and received support in the form of individual coaching.

While Hydrogenious wants to adapt to the upcoming challenges, there are no plans for further layoffs in the coming year. The focus is now on improving the technology and focusing on flagship projects in order to increase competitiveness in the field of hydrogen technology. Despite the drastic incisions, the company remains confident of finding sustainable solutions and asserting its place in the high -growing hydrogen industry, as well as infranken.de
