in the picturesque Region of Almenland, exactly 1.2 km from the town center of Passail, the passionate beekeeper Karl Kreiner makes his traditions bloom. On the occasion of Peter's Day on February 22, he wakes his bees with a gentle knock and a traditional saying. This special practice has a good reason: "You knock and then you hear that they burn up. The bees are wild animals, and the woodpecker is their enemy," explains Kreiner. The distinct noise of the breakout signals that his bees have survived the hard winter well. Kreiner started his beekeeping with just one beehive 40 years ago and can look at 100 beehives today. In his self -made facility, he melts the wax of old bees honeycombs in order to make new middle walls from them, which he then releases back into the beehives.
