East Tyrol: Loans with record demand - OIG turns to companies!
The Osttiroler Investment GmbH (OIG) is once again the focus of public attention due to their financial activities, especially in connection with the Kalser Bergbahnen. According to reports from orf tirol , OIG has provided over 32 million euros in loans in the past 30 years in order to promote tourism in the region. Managing Director Karl Poppeller confirmed a persistently high demand for loans, even if it broke heavily during the pandemic. The outdoor stand of the loans currently amounts to around three to four million euros. The investments aim to support important connecting roads, such as the Felbertauernstrasse and tourism -relevant projects.
In another report by Dolomitenstadt , the complicated situation is pointed out to the 25.1-percent investment in the Kalser Bergbahnen. This participation, for which OIG invested 6 million euros, was originally supposed to be a lucrative source of income. Instead, the expected profits failed to materialize and the value of the shares has been devalued over the years. A state parliament request on this topic brought to light that the assignment price for the shares has not been determined to this day - contrary to previously expressed expectations. The dispute over this evaluation has been going on for years and, due to the use of public funds, ensures additional pressure on those responsible.
a year full of uncertainties
The legal disputes between the Oig and the Schultz Group, which is known in the media as a “lift emperor”, have led to a lack of transparency towards the public. An expert opinion on the financial assessment of the shares could not be presented on time, which further complicated the situation. It remains to be seen whether the intervention of the Chamber of the Commercial Faith countries leads to clarification of the conflict and whether the arbitrator will soon come to a binding result. The political and economic implications of this situation are considerable and raise questions about the future role of OIG in regional investments.
