Bomb threat to the Brenner: Maundry and Evacuation!
On the evening of December 5, 2024, a bomb threat at the Brenner train station in South Tyrol led to a massive police operation and comprehensive traffic restrictions. According to reports from South Tyrolean Media , a man stated that he hidden a bomb in a train toilet during a police check. This statement led to the immediate hiring of train traffic between Tyrol and South Tyrol as well as the temporary closure of the burner highway (A22).
A total of around 300 people had to be evacuated from a train that was on the way to Munich. The police commitment was supported by a special command to search the train. Despite the serious threat, it turned out that no explosive device was found, which the situation for the trapped travelers relaxed, as reported the Italian news agency Ansa . The all -clear was given after about two hours, the roadblocks were canceled and train traffic was resumed.
The incident began when the man rioted on the train and issued the threat after his arrest. The Tyrolean police confirmed that the measures for the security check were carried out on the Italian side. Although the assignment was considered successful and no bomb was discovered, it remains to be expected that there could continue to be restrictions on traffic.
