Russia's politicians are calling back food brands - help for poor!
In Russia, the reintroduction of food brands is discussed, a step that is considered necessary against the background of a still high inflation. The chairman of the State Duma Financial Market Committee, Anatoli Aksakow, sees this measure support for socially weak groups. According to him, the most needed people should be certified to be supplied with a minimum of vital products. These suggestions find their roots in the critical economic situation, which is further exacerbated by military inserts and western sanctions, such as the Merkur reported.
Food prices in Russia have increased dramatically in recent years. According to the National Agency for Financial Information (NAFI), the average food costs from 16,600 rubles rose to 21,100 rubles in 2023 in 2021. This corresponds to an increase of 4500 rubles per month, which is about 45 to 210 euros. In particular, the price increase in basic foods such as eggs, tomatoes and cabbage causes resentment among the population.
