Children's table in Speyer: Nomena Becker's commitment to children in need
Speyer, Deutschland - in Speyer, Nomena Becker has been involved in the Dompfarrei Pax Christi since November 2024 as the new head of the children's table, a project by the German Red Cross district association Speyer. The children's table is aimed at children with low -income families on children between the ages of 6 and 12 and offers an afternoon program that takes place on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participation is only possible with proof of need.
Nomena Becker takes care of the implementation and organization of the children's table, including the conception and interior design before the opening on November 8th. Her tasks include sorting the donations in kind, cooking a fresh lunch with the children and carrying out creative and playful activities. Becker brings many years of experience because she has been working on a voluntary basis with children and young people for 14 years. It emphasizes the flexibility and adaptation of the offers to the needs of children and parents through direct dialogue.
support and challenges
The children's table receives numerous donations in kind and money as well as support from the co-founders Maurice Main and Markus Lamm. One of the challenges is to reach people who could benefit from this offer. That is why advertising in the board and other institutions are important.
For those who want to get involved, Nomena Becker recommends that you contact organizations who rely on voluntary support. There are many institutions in Speyer who are urgently looking for volunteers.
