Bloody record in the Gaza Strip: 93 deaths on auxiliary mission under fire under fire

Civil protection in the Gaza Strip, which is under the control of Hamas, accused the Israeli army of opening fire on the end of help on Sunday. According to the information, this led to at least 93 deaths. A particularly tragic situation occurred in Gaza city when 80 people lost their lives after the arrival of an auxiliary convoy. However, these allegations vehemently rejected the Israeli army, which on the contrary announced an expansion of their offensive in the center of the Gaza Strip, especially in the city of Deir al-Balah. The UNO World Food Program (WFP) reported on a food convoy that met a large amount of hungry civilians while they were under fire.

In addition, the civil protection spokesman Bassal reported that 39 people were killed by Israeli fire near auxiliary centers in the south of the Gaza Strip on Saturday. Nine more people died near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) on Sunday. According to reports, over 800 people in the region have been killed in trying to procure food since the end of May, with most of them lost their lives near the GHF distribution centers. The GHF itself has accused Hamas of creating unrest and shooting civilians, while the Israeli army also blames Hamas for the shots on civilians.

Humanitarian crisis and everyday life of the civilian population

The situation in the Gaza Strip is still precarious. Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, most of the two million residents have been expelled at least once. Relatives of Israeli hostages held by Hamas expressed concern about current developments and demanded clarity about the military plan. In Tel Aviv, the relatives and supporters of the hostages demonstrate for the end of the war and the release of their relatives. In the midst of all these tensions, indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas run over a possible ceasefire and the release of hostages.

An impressive example of the suffering of the civilian population is the 12-year-old Mohammed al-Darbi, who became known through a video in which he ate sand out of desperation after he came back from a food distribution point empty-handed. According to Tagesschau Mohammed has not attended school in the past 21 months. His daily activities only consist of the desperate search for food and water.

In the meantime, his mother bakes flatbread on an improvised oven. The family suffers from extremely high food prices - a kilo of tomatoes costs around 25 euros. The auxiliary distribution in the Gaza Strip is poorly coordinated and there is still too little help. In addition, armed family clans are increasingly taking over the auxiliary transports, which further exacerbates the situation. Mohammed, who lives in constant fear due to the warlike circumstances, hopes for a break in a fire to be able to return to a certain normality and play without being afraid of shots.
