insights into the past

At this event, the district museums attach particular importance to their respective local historical focus. The district museum inner city shows an exhibition on the re -establishment of the St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Opera and the Burgtheater. The diaries of Hilde Schneider, who reflects their experiences around the end of the war, are particularly impressive in the Margareten district museum. The development of the radio between 1945 and 1955 in the district museum is discussed and in the Circus & Clown Museum, historical tours for the "Circus in Vienna" are offered to present the cultural highlights of that time, such as orf.at emphasized.

Again there is a stamp pass that enables the participants to collect small “goodies” from the museums. As part of the program, readings and film screenings also take place, which give visitors exciting insights into life and the challenges of post -war years. This unique opportunity to experience the history of Vienna up close and to get in touch with contemporary witness is also drawing to the museums this year. The importance of this journey through time is obvious - 80 years after the end of the war and 70 years after the state contract, it is important to illuminate the new cultural flowering period of Vienna too reflex.
