Kulturgalore: Voluntary rescue theater life in Ostholstein!

In the Ostholstein cultural scene, the local theater and music associations bloom, as recently in the Kulturscheune Süsel, where the stage design for the children's Christmas piece "De Dree Geister Vun de Wiehnacht" was dismantled on Monday evening. The committed theater club Süsel, which operates the cultural barn, has been bringing culture into the region for 38 years. Founding member Anne Vehres announced that this season the club not only has its own Low German pieces, but also guest appearances and shows such as the "Tina Turner Tribute Show Op Platt". "People are happy about the variety," said Vehres, who tirelessly stands for cultural work in the area with her husband.

But not only in Süsel, culture is very important. In Bad Segeberg, too, the Kalkberg oasis attracts with free concerts that have been successfully taking place for over a decade. Ralf Schaffer, who organizes around 15 concerts there every year, reports that the hat for donations will go around to finance the events. "It is fantastic to see how committed people are," says Schaffer and highlights the importance of the volunteers. In Mölln, the “Pegasus Waterkant” association also has an open ear for culture, organizes the Pegasus Open Air every year and is committed to social issues like a festival, such as a festival against right -wing extremism.

cultural promotion and challenges

The club landscape, however, faces challenges, especially with regard to the youngsters. Olaf Nehls, Chairman of the Small Theater Bargteheide, sees difficulties, especially for the future of cultural work: "We have contributed a lot to the fact that over 30,000 visitors come to our events a year, but recruitment of young participants remains a challenge." The support of clubs and the active cooperation of young people is essential in order to continue to maintain the cultural offer in the future, as the website of Webling emphasizes, which provides important information on club management and indicates the need for statistics and user preferences.

Small communities grow in culture that are worn by the passion of their members. Whether theater, music or social events - the passion to promote local culture shows how important the clubs are for cultural cohesion in the region, as can be seen from the reports of LN.
