Köstritzer Spiegelzelt Festival in Weimar: after 22 years!
Weimar. A cultural highlight of the city of Weimar is history! After more than 20 years, the Köstritzer Spiegelzelt Festival will no longer take place. The organizers made the sad decision because the economic framework is simply no longer wearable.
The festival, which enthused thousands of visitors every year with a colorful program of music, cabaret and cabaret, can no longer pay off. The cost of artist fees and technology has exploded in recent years, while ticket prices of over 45 euros have become intolerable for many fans. "We tried everything to keep the festival alive, but the limits of what is feasible are reached," said festival director Martin Kranz. The challenges after corona pandemic have also tightened the situation.
a review of two decades
In the past 20 years, the Köstritzer Spiegelzelt Festival attracted more than 300,000 visitors and offered around 720 performances with around 300 artists. The historic mirror tent, a true piece of jewelry made of velvet and wood, was an eye -catcher in the picturesque Goethepark on the ILM and offered a unique atmosphere for the events. But now only the memory of unforgettable evenings and thrilling appearances remains.
