In the spectacular procedure related to the EXW pyramid fraud network, the accused at the State Court of Klagenfurt received their judgments on October 23, 2024. After an intensive process duration of over a year and 60 days of negotiations, which took a total of around 300 hours, the lay judge under judge Claudia Bandion-Ortner decided on the fate of seven Carinthians, two Tyroleans, an Italian and a Croatian who were charged with severe fraud and money laundering. Overall, the accused sums up damage to impressive 20 million euros, with some witnesses to provide a damage amount of up to 120 million euros. According to Krone , the perpetrators were accused of baiting through the promise of high profits in the context of real estate projects and cryptocurrencies.
The living conditions of the accused have illustrated the extent of the fraud: luxury cars, extravagant parties in Dubaier Nobel Club and even a shark tank in a villa testify to a lavish lifestyle that was financed by the money invested. At least 40,000 affected people are said to have been involved in the stitch. In addition, further investigations in the "My First Plant" Causa are pending against some accused, which also employs the judiciary with an estimated damage of 16 million euros and 17,000 victims, such as today today reported.
judgments and upcoming steps
The judgments were different: two main defendants each received five years in prison, while others were assessed milder. Some defendants have already announced appeals that could further drain the legal disputes. Plans for further procedures against the accused are also in the room, since the investigation in other fraud cases such as "My First Plans" continues. The main question remains whether the fraud was planned right from the start, which the public prosecutor vehemently denies and cites motivation for illegal activities.
