Shots in Neukölln: Police investigated after a dangerous clan incident
An incident in Berlin-Neukölln caused excitement on Monday evening when shots were fired into a crowd on Marientaler Straße. Despite the threatening environment, according to the police reporting, no one has been injured directly through the shots.
In this incident, however, two people were taken to the hospital: a 44-year-old suffered a laceration on the head and a 33-year-old was treated with a stab injury in the upper body. The police suspect that these injuries are connected to the incident. The shooter was able to flee at the scene, while an immediate search for him was initially unsuccessful. Numerous people were present at the scene, including well-known members of the Abou Chaker clan, such as Arafat, Nasser, Mohamed and Yasser Abou-Chaker.Investigations and possible connections to clan crime
The background of the crime is still unclear and the subject of ongoing investigations. The police have used additional officials and units of the service dog squadron to calm the situation. During searches at the crime scene, the emergency services discovered a machete and several other weapons. While there was no confirmed information about persons injured during the incident, it remains unclear whether there were arrests.
A spokeswoman for the Berlin union of the police, Benjamin Jendro, referred to the often violent execution of conflicts in organized crime and the associated reluctance of the parties involved to the police. During the investigation, projectiles and bullet holes were also found in a wall near the site, which is why the police are determined towards clan crime. Neighbors reported loud disputes and shot.
The Marientaler Straße between Buschkrugallee and Haarlemer Straße was closed to investigation until early Tuesday morning, and several sharp firearms and knives were ensured near the crime scene, such as FOCUS.de reported.
