Focus on the thefts: Expensive technology from agricultural machinery!

In the district of Vorpommern-Rügen, several thefts of expensive technology from agricultural machinery occurred last week. In a number of cases, unknown perpetrators entered agricultural businesses and stealed valuable devices. The police have started the investigation and checks possible relationships between the acts.

The first incident occurred in the period from Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 2 p.m. to Thursday, October 10, 2024, 7:30 a.m. in Jakobsdorf. A large number of devices were stolen here, including GPS receivers, steering computers and a control device, which led to a total damage of around 33,500 euros. Just a few hours later, on the night of Thursday, a similar incident took place in Pantelitz, where the perpetrators stole GPS technology and screens from tractors between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.

continued thefts with considerable damage

in Nieppars/Martensdorf were also stolen from GPS devices and accessories from tugs between 9:30 p.m. and October 10 at 7 p.m., which meant a loss of around 14,000 euros. The time proximity and the type of stolen devices suggest that these acts may have been committed by the same perpetrators, since the companies are in the immediate vicinity of each other.

The perpetrators apparently aim to resell the stolen devices profitably, possibly via online platforms or in newspaper advertisements. With regard to the high demand for agricultural technology, the authorities are alerted. Interested buyers should therefore be particularly careful and inform the police in case of doubt.

The police are looking for witnesses in this context. Anyone who could see what was going on at the crime scenes or suspected persons are asked to use the police in Barth on 038231/6720 or via the online guard at www.polizei.mvnet.de to connect. Any other police station can also receive information.

The investigators hope to make further progress in the investigation of these actions through information from the population and to hold the perpetrators into account. The processes not only cause additional pressure on agricultural businesses, but also show the growing problem of agricultural crime in rural areas.
