Security conference in the Mühlenkreis: Authorities in dialogue for more protection!

The fifth security conference took place on Thursday, October 10th in the Minden-Lübbecke district house. District Administrator Ali Dogan invited to a dialogue to talk about current security issues that affect the residents of the mill circle. The event brought together a large number of representatives, including mayors to the region, members of the police advisory board, the district administration as well as the local courts and public prosecutor's office in Bielefeld. The federal police, the main customs office of Bielefeld, a representative of the Bundeswehr district connection command and the medical director of the emergency services were also present.
In his opening speech, District Administrator Dogan emphasized the importance of personal exchange. He expressed his joy about the lively participation and wanted a productive dialogue: "It is crucial that we work together at the district level to ensure security in the mill circle." This year a new workshop method, the so-called "World Café", was introduced to deepen the exchange.

The conference dealt with a variety of topics, whereby the focus was on the cross -agency cooperation with regard to violent crime. In particular, the problem of the knife attacks was addressed. In addition, security at events was the focus of the discussion. Another important point was the design of the traffic area as a preventive measure to reduce traffic accidents.
The police introduced the individual topics through informative impulse lectures, followed by intensive discussions in the workshops, which were used very actively by the participants. Police Director Mathias Schmidt was positive about the course at the end of the conference and noted: "The deep exchange between the responsible decision -makers has led to valuable results and constructive ideas that could promote the security of our citizens in the mill circle."
Another important topic was traffic accident prevention. A nationwide campaign of all 47 district police authorities was discussed here. This campaign bears the name #leben and uses conspicuous, one meter -tall letters that are placed in different locations in road traffic. The aim is to sharpen the awareness of road users for their responsibility in road traffic and thus reduce the number of traffic accidents.
The event closed with a group photo of all participants who were taken in front of the letters set up in the district house. This symbolized the successful completion of the conference and the joint commitment to security in the region.
