The street turns into a true speed ring-the police in Montabaur have published alarming numbers! In 2023, every tenth traffic accident was due to its responsibility at inappropriate speed. Ringing alarm bells, because in October the office focuses on the control of traffic safety with laser measuring devices. The speed of drivers is now suddenly put on the test!

A total of ten speed measurements were carried out in the Montabaur, Wirges and Wallmerod associations. On the inner -city streets, the Situation remained mostly in the green area, with over 80 % of the violations in the warning money area of up to 15 km/h. However, it is particularly delicate on the country roads: over 55 % of the measured vehicles rolled at 16 km/h or more above the limit. The most spectacular case? A racer at 125 km/h over the B 49, where only 80 km/h are allowed! This means that if an emergency braking, the braking distance is extended to a dramatic 156 meters - a threat to all road users!

The shocking numbers

After the controls, there were both positive and negative knowledge. While many violations were found at some measuring points, others remained without any culprits. The police urged all drivers to stick to the speed limits - security on the streets depends on it! A low speed surplus could have fatal consequences on smooth, wet or leaves covered with leaves. Take the control back and drive safely! The streets are not a playground!
