Police deployment in Löningen: Young person causes rioting in the town hall
Cloppenburg/Vechta (ots)
In an unusual situation, a police operation in Löningen, more precisely in Lindenallee at the town hall, occurred on Monday, October 7, 2024. There, a young man refused to leave the building, even though the staff had asked him to do so several times. This refusal caused the employees to inform the police.
The police quickly arrived at the scene and expressed a dismissal for the man. During the accompaniment to the fresh air, however, there was a resistance in which two police officers were slightly injured. Despite the confrontation, the young man managed to leave the town hall. He threw a stone on site through a window of the town hall, which continued to escalate the situation.
police intervention and support
After the man destroyed the window, other police officers intervened. However, these were able to prevent further escalation, so that there were no further acts of resistance. Despite the escalation of the situation, the man was transported to a nearby hospital and received medical care there. This was necessary because the young man was in an exceptional psychological situation, which was also the reason for the use of the police.
The police called on the public to refrain from spreading videos on social media, as this could also burden the situation of the person concerned. The focus is on giving those affected the necessary help and not sensationalizing the events.
For more information, the police referred to the press office of the Cloppenburg/Vechta police inspection, which can be reached during the usual business hours.
