A 70-year-old man from Hennef was the victim of an internet fraud that cost him several hundred euros. On Wednesday, October 9th, the senior received an alarming message on his computer at around 1:00 p.m. in which his internet was blocked. To solve the problem, he was asked to call a specified telephone number.

The hennefer followed this request and contacted an unknown man who insured him to help him. In order to fix the alleged damage, the senior should first make several transfers via his online banking. Only after the fifth transfer did the man became suspicious and ended the conversation. In the end, the financial loss added up to several hundred euros.

The police urgently point out that such attempts to fraud often occur and advises to act carefully in corresponding situations. It is important not to respond to the demands of an unknown caller. Do not install software installations that are requested on the phone and do not follow any links that will be communicated to you on the phone.
