A harmless excursion ended in a dangerous theft attempt on the highway! On October 23, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., a 45-year-old BMW driver lost his bike rack, which was loaded with two valuable bicycles. This happened on the BAB 3 in the section between Neuwied and Dierdorf. The suddenly falling carrier met a subsequent vehicle and caused property damage of impressive 6,000 euros!

The situation escalated when the injured party returned to the scene of the accident at around 3:30 p.m. and found it horrified that a panel van parked on the hard shoulder. Two men, 41 and 53 years old, had already invited a bike and were in the process of removing the second from the carrier. They were firmly convinced that the valuable bikes were garbage - a brazen mistake! The police officers quickly prevented the theft and submitted a criminal complaint against the two suspects.
