Drug controls on Time Warp: Police draws sobering balance sheet
Xaver-Fuhr-Straße, 68163 Mannheim, Deutschland - Mannheim experienced a spectacular party weekend! The second edition of the legendary techno event "Time Warp" attracted incredible 19,500 celebrating visitors from all over the Federal Republic and impressive 80 nations, including numerous party friends from France, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The Maimarkt site was the scene of the event, and international police forces were on site - even the Gendarmerie Nationale from France supported the operational measures to ensure security.
The police did their best to promote responsible pleasure by carrying out strict drug controls. And the numbers speak for themselves! With a total of 214 registered crimes, there is a decline compared to previous events, which is partly due to the new law on how to deal with consumable cannabis. Among the seized drugs were alarming 42 grams of cocaine, 70 grams of amphetamines, 358 dangerous XTC tablets and the hierarchy of other substances such as ketamine and MDMA. The police checked 328 vehicles and checked 865 people - a true security marathon!
drugs and riot
But not everything was peaceful! A tumulty incident occurred when a 22-year-old man tried to attack an official in a person's check. At first he willingly handed over a small amount of ketamine and then escalated when he wanted to attack a police officer with a punch. However, his attempt was in vain, and after a dramatic escape of just a few meters, he fell on his own and was caught. When he was arrested, he confessed to the consumption of ketamine, heroin, XTC and amphetamines.
Overall, the police also had to document three thefts, a trespass and a violation of the weapons law because of the prohibition of a whipping ring. Four drivers were behind the wheel, while 27 were suspected of the drug influence. The balance of the event shows both the enthusiasm and the challenges that such major events bring.
