Chaos on the streets: accidents and resistance in Aurich and Wiesmoor!
On Friday, October 19, 2024, several incidents occurred in and around Aurich/Wittmund that led to a lively police commitment. There were various events between different traffic accidents and a arrested person who attracted the attention of the authorities.
In particular in Wiesmoor, a car was the goal of an unexplained vandalism. The rear window of a black VW Golf was damaged between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., while the vehicle was parked in the field, adjacent to Karl-Georgs-Forst. Another incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. when a 35-year-old man from Norderney got into a dispute. The heavily drunk man noticed in the area of Norddeicher Straße before he did not stop insulting passers -by on the site of a supermarket despite his disorder. The police then took him into custody.
At the office, the man tried to beat a police officer, fortunately he was unharmed. A 28-year-old colleague who hurried to help was injured by the hand and could not continue his service. The man was ultimately brought into a closed facility because of his mental state, while a criminal proceedings were initiated against him.

The day was also shaped by several traffic accidents. Two pedelec drivers collided in Aurich. A 56-year-old wanted to go on a bike path with her e-bike and overlooked a 25-year-old who drove from the same bike path towards Emder Strasse. Both suffered minor injuries and had to go to the hospital for medical treatment.
Another incident occurred in West Großefehn when a stranger lost an object with a white van. A 74-year-old driver of a Mercedes ran over the lost cargo and caused damage to his vehicle. The damage is considered considerably, and the police are again looking for witnesses who can provide relevant information.
in Wiesmoor there was a rear-end collision in which a 24-year-old BMW driver rammed a VW Caddy who had to stop to turn. The 62-year-old driver was slightly injured, while the BMW driver needed a towing campaign for his damaged vehicle. The property damage will be estimated at around 11,000 euros.
Another serious incident occurred on federal road 72 in Upgant-Schott. Here a 25-year-old woman collided with her van with a transporting vehicle of a 35-year-old when turning. This had overlooked her when overtaking. The woman suffered minor injuries and a drug control of the other driver showed a positive preliminary test on THC. Here, too, the property damage was around 20,000 euros and both vehicles had to be towed.
The Aurich police have started their investigation in these various incidents and asks the population for help, especially in cases of vandalism and the escape.
