Sarah Engels: From a pummon to the marathon star-her way to self-love!

Self -doubt and struggle for your own self: Sarah Engels, who made the jump into the spotlight in 2011 as a participant of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, reveals her inner fights in a current interview. Despite her successful career, the 32-year-old sees a time full of uncertainties in the past that started in childhood. In recent years, however, she has learned to deal with her body and emotions and can now look back proudly.

Sarah, who often felt uncomfortable as a child and suffered from weight problems, reflected on her early shyness. "I was a bit chubby and you felt that you are somehow different," she says. These uncertainties meant that she even didn't want to sing in front of good friends and her family. The shame prevented her from entering the stage for a long time and to live out her passion, as she reported in the WDR talk show "Kölner Treff". Fortunately, Sarah has learned the support of her family who helped her to finance singing lessons, which was considered a turning point in her life and gave her courage to develop.

Despite her success today, Sarah Engels is still faced with self -doubt. In an interview she confesses: "Sometimes I have my weak days when I look in the mirror and think you just stay in bed, can't do anything anyway." Nevertheless, she managed to overcome these negative thoughts and no longer be influenced by the opinion of others. "There is no right and no wrong and no ideal of beauty! [...] You are perfect as you are," she encourages her followers on social media.

Today Sarah is active and, together with her husband Julian, has already successfully contested several marathons. The last success of the Cologne Marathon in October 2024 was proud of Instagram: "We did it. I am just so proud of both of us." This positive development shows that Sarah Engels has learned to deal with her doubts and to go her way with strength and determination, as she has revealed her experiences for the first time in an interview with RTL. Their story inspires many and shows that self -knowledge and self -love are the keys to a fulfilling life, regardless of external opinions.
