Apprenticeship week 2025: Young back talents take over the branch!

As part of the eighth week of apprenticeship at Ströck, a traditional family -run bakery, the trainees have the opportunity to manage a highly frequented branch in the Westfield Donau center independently. The week that begins on March 20, 2025 offers around 45 talented apprentices the opportunity to take over all positions - from the branch management to the bakery - and thus demonstrate their knowledge and skills. Managing Director Irene Ströck emphasizes the importance of trust in the young talents, which serves as the basis for successful cooperation. "This apprenticeship week is a unique format that gives our trainees the chance to take responsibility and experience entrepreneurial thinking," says Ströck.

The apprentices visited workshops in advance to prepare for their responsible role. In addition to practical skills, you will also learn teamwork and problem -solving strategies that are crucial for the operation of a branch. As a special feature of this week, the trainees present their own product: the "Checker Weckerl", a Rucola cheese-ciabatta that is offered exclusively on only five days. In addition, with the support of Chef-Pâtissier Pierre Reboul, a chocolate "Checker cookie" is created as a perfect dessert. The creations show not only the baking skills, but also the knowledge of the apprentices collected about product development and presentation to enrich the shopping experience of customers.

"We are enthusiastic about the commitment of our apprentices and the positive feedback from customers, which shows how valuable this training is," explains Katharina Pichler, the HR management of Ströck. Every year the company takes up 20 new talents, which are trained in five different apprenticeships. In addition to the apprentice week, every apprentice receives valuable support on the way to a promising career in the bakery.
