race for records and placements
Marco Odermatt, the current overall World Cup leader, had difficulties in this departure and surprisingly landed in 15th place. He just received a few points, but remains behind the record of Hermann Maier. In order to exceed Maier’s score of 2000 points, Odermatt has to go to the podium at least twice in the remaining races, such as the Kleine Zeitung . Even Austrian teammates, such as Lukas Feurstein, could not classify themselves in the top ten and thus miss valuable opportunities for a World Cup ticket.
The unveiling of Kriechmayr's impressive performance followed the news of Johan Clarey's farewell. The French departure, which started in his 240th World Cup race, ended his career without a win. Despite all the challenges, he retired from the competition with 12th place after mixing in the meantime. An emotional end for a long -time professional, while the remaining seasonal races in Soleuto and the final decisions are imminent in the coming days.
