Among the applicants is the only woman with Kirsty Coventry to apply for the highest position in the world of sport. In addition, five other men are fighting for the presidency, including Sebastian Coe, who is known as a presidential candidate in both athletics and as a critical votes in the IOC, as Sportschau.de reported.
The candidates in the overlay
The election will take place in Athens from March 18 to 21, 2025, and the new president is elected for eight years. The other candidates include David Lappartient from France, Johan Eliasch from Sweden/Great Britain and Morinari Watanabe from Japan. They all bring different experiences, while Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., The son of the legendary IOC president, has close connections within the IOC. Feisal Al Hussein from Jordan complements the list of aspirants to the presidency.
