Girlschool: Legends of the skirt celebrate 45 years with Saxon in Vienna!
The legendary rock band Girlschool, which has been the first female rock band in history since its foundation in 1978, celebrates its ongoing success a few days before her appearance in Vienna on February 21. Front woman Kim Mcauliffe, who is still actively on stage, gave insights into her fascinating career in an interview with the "Krone". The band, whose classics such as "Demolition" and "Hit and Run" were formative for the punk and metal genre, has an eventful story full of great success and tragic losses. The recent events that happened at the concert in Örebro, Sweden, but throw a shadow on the upcoming appearances. McAauliffe, who recently wiggled on stage as a support for Saxon in Örebro and had difficulties in balance, caused concern and discussions in the official girlschool group groups at fans. She was visibly disoriented and even had to sit on Saxon's drum platform while her guitar technician helped lose weight, as Blabbermouth reported.
worrying performance
The concert on February 7th for Mcauliffe came to a fight, what some eyewitnesses commented on like: "To see so sadly what a great evening could have been". Performance is unclear whether Mcauliffe's difficulties are related to alcohol or other health problems. While Girlschool occurred in Norrköping, Sweden the following evening, without incidents, it remains to be seen whether an official statement on the incidents in Örebro will follow. In an earlier interview about the changes in touring life, McAuliffe thought: "We can no longer do it to the extent. It is just too painful the next day," she reflected with a smile while looking back on her long career.
GIRLSCHOOL, the pioneers in female skirt, have not only asserted themselves over the decades, but also created a fan base that is enthusiastic about their unique style worldwide. On February 21, they are expected as part of their tour in Vienna, while Mcauliffe assures that, despite the challenges of age, the band is still willing to conquer the rock stages of the world and offer their fans an unforgettable show. The performance is special because it has been the first Vienna show since 1993 and is an absolute must for all heavy metal fans, as "Krone" reported.
