Selenskyj's taxation: The president really earns that much!

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has recently published his tax return, which gives insights into his financial circumstances. According to OE24 last year, earned a total of 15.2 million Griwna, around 335,000 euros. A significant part of these income comes from the sale of government bonds, while the remaining sources of income contain bank interest and rental income from their own properties.

Despite the continuing war in Ukraine, the family's cash status has not changed significantly by the end of 2024. However, there are no specific figures. Before his presidency, Selenskyj was active as an actor, screenwriter and film producer, which made him a well -known face in Ukraine. It is estimated that the family's assets are in the million dollar area, whereby exact figures are not known.

Financial development since the start of the war

A look at the financial situation of recent years shows that Selenskyj's income has been significantly declining since the beginning of the war. In 2021 he earned 10.8 million GRIWNA ($ 286,168), which represents a decline of 12 million GRIWNA compared to 2020. Significant income in 2021 came from the sale of government bonds that made up about $ 142,000. The following year, its total income was reduced to 3.7 million GRIWNA, which is particularly due to lower rental income.

For 2020, Selenskyj's income was estimated at a total of 336,000 GRIWNA (8,192 euros) from his presidential activity and 4.6 million GRIWNA (112,138 euros) from fees. He also achieved a house sales of 13.4 million GRIWNA (326,663 euros).

Combating corruption and transparency

Selenskyj also emphasized the importance of transparency in relation to the income of its ministers. He asks civil servants to disclose their income to combat corruption. In this context, the Ukrainian secret service SBU has uncovered a fraud in the value of 1.5 billion griwna (around 36 million euros), which revolves around the purchase of 100,000 mortar grenades. Money was transferred to an arms supplier, but no ammunition was delivered. Investigations against several suspects are underway.

In view of these incidents, the combating of corruption for Ukraine has a high priority, especially with regard to the ongoing negotiations for an EU accession. The integrity of the Ukrainian state and its administration is crucial to gain and maintain the trust of the international community.
